Liturgical Banners

As his gift to Holy Cross Parish and to enhance the liturgical environment, Msgr. Gerein requested the CWL undertake the making of fourteen banners.  The banners were also to enhance the bare walls of the church and improve the acoustics of the building.  A planning committee was set up under the leadership of Sr. Canisia Gerein (Master of Arts).  The designs were to be inspirational and pleasing to the eye.  This project was started in early 1977.  Many of our CWL members worked for ten months to complete them. They were presented to the parish for Msgr. Gerein's 50th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood in June 1978.  Each banner has an inspirational message of its own.  The one word in each banner that is predominant carries a message that unites all the banners.
